Amy -

I have been accused of harboring a little "anal-ness" - LOL. That being said, I've also discovered we have to use the techniques that work best for each of us. My outline gives me a visual way to separate the different parts of my life and that brings me lots of peace.

So feel free to use what works for you and toss the rest!

Wishing you a chaos-free 2010!

Ok Kelsey, when I first read your post, I thought, "WAY to anal for me." But when I looked at your outline I saw how simple it really was. I'm going to use it in 2010. Hopefully this will help me with my goal of completing a manuscript. Thanks for the ideas and outlines.

Margie -

For you, anything! :) I'll follow-up with you today (Sunday) by email to see how we can help on a piece for your class.

Cheers,
Kels

PS - Have been using an egg timer like you mention in your SDB class and I can't tell you how sucessful that's been for me. I'm not consistent in my use yet, but I've seen enough reward that I'm definitely going to incorporate it into my 2010 strategies!

You three could win an award for creating and running one of the best group blogs for writers. Professional. Pertinent. Perky. ;-)

Kelsey -- Love your blog -- and your Monthly Planning Outline. I would like to add it (and your blog) to a Defeat Self-Defeating Behaviors lecture. Of course, I would credit you. Please let me know if I have your permission. margie@margielawson.com

Kelsey, Adrienne, and Tracey -- Perfect timing. I added a section to DSDB -- IF YOU BLOG, DON'T SLOG.

I covered the blog management aspects of reading and responding to blogs, running solo blogs, and guest blogging. Would you three consider writing a piece on organizing and maintaining a group blog?

Kelsey called it, Organizational Strategies for Running a Group Blog. I like her title.

I teach Defeat Self-Defeating Behaviors from Jan. 4th - 29th. Let me know if you want to play, :-)), and if you have time to get it to me by Jan. 22nd.

Thank you.

Wishing you all the BEST of the BEST of NEW YEARS!

HAPPY 2010!

Donna -

If I had a nickel for every time I've left my grocery list at home...well, let's just say I'd never have to worry about Social Security paying out in my old age.

I'm not familiar with Hotmail, but it sounds like you're making great use of its functionality. I've long been a MS Outlook gal, but I keep discovering ways to make it work better for me. I use the calendaring function, but even more than that, I use the task function to keep to-do items at the forefront of my brain. One aspect I love about Outlook is that I can drag an email message straight over to tasks and it creates a task I can change the dates on and set alerts (reminders) on. Now - if I just would stop ignoring when the darn tasks turn red (which means they're over due!).

Hope your 2010 is all you wish and more!

Adrienne -

The good news is that among the three of us, we're able to keep RU on track. In fact, that might make a good future post - organizational strategies for running a group blog.

I'm going to work on my outline and to-do lists today, which makes me so happy! Guess that makes me more than a little sick as well, huh?

Victoria -

I'm a big believer in getting enough sleep. I think sleep can absolutely mean the difference between a productive day and a bust. (I type this on about four hours of airplane sleep last night. :))

Balance is such a slippery, elusive concept. Although we've had 2-3 VPs talk on the subject, I can see this topic being a favorite time and time again.

Happy new year!

Nah - I say if the system ain't broken, don't "fix" it. Everyone has a different process, and some people would get WAY too bogged down trying to use mine. Sometimes the simplest system is absolutely the best!

Great advice, Donna! I'm using the iCal feature on my Mac and it's helping me keep track of where I'm at in the process with our guest bloggers. I didn't think about using it for contests.

Will have to add that to the LIST!

I'm a HUGE fan of lists, although I'm finding it harder to keep track of WHERE my lists are! LOL

The past few months I've been keeping myself organized by using the calendar feature in Hotmail. I usually add those "don't want to forget" items that usually skitter across my brain when I'm in the midst of something else. If I want to enter a contest, I can put that on the calendar too, since it has a whole year on the thing, just waiting to be filled up!

I can have it send me a reminder email about it (cuz I'm ALWAYS checking my email to see which query is getting an answer!). I can also change the date easily if the task doesn't get done, and it can be seen in a list format, like an agenda.

So far, so good. And no little hastily written notes for me to lose!

Happy New Decade to everyone!
