Hooray for Hollywood: Book Launch Party with Robin Covington

Hooray for Hollywood!

Hello RU friends –

I’m celebrating the release of my latest book, PLAYING THE PART, from the PtP 500pxBrazen Imprint at Entangled Publishing.

PtP was a big change for me. My two prior books (A NIGHT OF SOUTHERN COMFORT  and HIS SOUTHERN TEMPTATION) were set in a small southern town just outside of Roanoke, VA. Elliott, VA is much like the town I grew up in and I am very familiar with how a small town works and feels.

Bu Hollywood, CA? L.A.? The movie industry?

Not so much.

Man, was the research a blast. I read copies of Variety, trolled entertainment blogs, read online accounts from people who work on movie sets, and I watched lots of movies. Iron Man 1 & 2. The Bourne Trilogy. Bullitt and The Getaway and quite a few episodes of Criminal Minds.

Tough work, huh?

My hero, Mick Blackwell, is an action movie star, the sexiest man in America the last two years, a former child star and son of Hollywood royalty. He is also a cocky, confident, sexy playboy.

A mix of Tony Stark, Jason Bourne, Steve McQueen and Shemar Moore it is no wonder that my heroine, Piper James just couldn’t resist him.

I loved everything about my Hollywood romance – the glamour, the celebrity, and the Oscars. It was a blast to write and I can’ wait to get back there again.

What is your favorite romance novel featuring a celebrity?

Nancy Fraser and Patti Shenberger discuss the intricacies of plotting a multi-family, multi-location story.

The harder they play . . . the harder they fall.

After publicly self-destructing over a heartbreak a year ago, bestselling romance writer Piper James is now making nice with her publisher by agreeing to teach Hollywood’s favorite action star how to act like he’s in love. Only playboy Mick Blackwell has no clue what love looks like.

When a seductive heat ignites between Piper and Mick, she jumps at the chance for a bit of fun between the sheets, but with two stipulations: she’s kept out of the public eye and things end when she returns to New York. Only Mick keeps changing the rules on her. Tempted by America’s favorite bad boy, Piper is wondering how far she’s willing to bend…

A Night of Southern Comfort, her best-selling debut novel earned 4.5 stars and was touted by RT Book Reviews as bringing a “fresh, modern feel to the genre while still sticking to the things that get our adrenaline pumping — sex and danger”. 1. Robin –

I love the Suzanne Brockmann book–can’t think of the name, darn it!–that features Cosmo protecting the woman making a film about two gay WWII (I think!) soldiers. I love all of Suze’s heroes, but Cosmo is an extra-fave of mine.

    Congrats on this newest release.

  2. Hi Robin,

My favorite movie about a celebrity is My Favorite Year. I like Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ books about the football players.

    Congrats on your success!

  3. I liked Gayle Foreman’s Where She Went where the hero is supposed to have become a famous rock star after he graduates and leaves his hometown.

    Excited to read your book!

  4. Morning Robin…

Congrats on your new book! =)

SEP writes some great celebrity style books – love those! Nora Roberts also has a few, one in her Chesapeake Bay series about artist – not a Hollywood artist, but a famous painter. =)

    Enjoy your release day!

  5. Happy release day, Robin!

Mine isn’t a book, but a movie. I loved The Bodyguard back in the day. I still run across it on cable and watch it every time!

I hope you have an awesome release week!

  7. Congratulations on your release, Robin! This book sounds FUN – I bet you had a blast researching it!

I can never narrow down favorite books to just one or two. My favorite celebrity romances would have to include Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ recent books, Candace Schuler’s romances about a family of Hollywood royalty, and Diana Holquist’s SEXIEST MAN ALIVE.

Thanks so much for a fun post!

  8. Happy release day, Robin!

SEP’s Glitter Baby is one of my favorite celeb-themed romances. But my all-time celeb-story movie is An Imitation of Life starring Lana Turner and Mahalia Jackson. If you haven’t seen it, check it out.
