Happy 4th of July! Military Heroes – Reader Roundup with Amy Alessio

Amy AlessioMany of you are enjoying hot temperatures as we head into the summer holiday, and here are some hot romance stories to keep the sizzle going. Military characters in romance stories can feature ex soldiers, those waiting to head back on a mission, or those discharged who may want to clear their reputations. Males are usually very alpha, and ladies are smart and strong. All are meant as a tribute to those who serve our country around the world. Happily there are many good military romances and series, especially featuring SEAL teams. What ones have I missed? Feel free to add some in the comments below.

unsungIt is hard to think about any list of military romances without Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters. Navy SEAL Lt. Tom Paoletti starts the series off in The Unsung Hero, as he recovers from a head injury and deals with an international terrorist with the help of Dr. Kelly Ashton. Brockmann’s signature action and powerful romance scene pacing is still going strong in new books and offshoots of the long running adventures.
hard as it getsLaura Kaye’s Hard as it Gets introduces readers to five ex military men who want to clear their names after dishonorable discharge records ended their careers. Nick knows he is in trouble when his ex-commander’s daughter Becca comes into his new Hard Ink tattoo parlor. Becca’s brother is kidnapped and she needs Nick. The taut suspense and well written love scenes will hook readers into this series.
nobody's angelNobody’s Angel (Rescue Me #1) by Kallypso Masters is currently sold for Kindle with her Masters at Arms title for two hot reads. Masters’ Rescue Me series features diverse erotic situations as well as realistic depictions of PTSD. Hot romance with lots of emotion and heart fill these stories. Nobody’s Angel starts the series and introduces readers to Marc d’Alessio (fabulous name!) who owns a kink club with some fellow ex-military men. Angelina runs into trouble at the club and when the owner helps her out, they cannot deny their attraction.
one wore blueGo back to past military service with Heather Graham’s Civil War vivid historicals beginning with One Wore Blue. Graham’s Civil War stories follow two brothers and a sister who each are forced to make tough decisions in the midst of a fighting country. Doctor Jesse Cameron shocks family and friends by signing up with the Union. No one is more upset than Kiernan McKay, who envisioned a genteel southern way of life with Jesse after their marriage. The war moves their plans ahead in ways they could not envision in this well engrossing historical with fascinating detail about medicine during that time.
darkest hourMaya Banks’ very popular KGI series kicks off with Darkest Hour. Ex-SEAL Ethan has been mourning for his beloved Rachel for a year, ever since she was presumed dead. A call alerting him that she may still be alive kicks him and the special operations Kelly Group International group he is part of into high gear. Rachel is one of the strongest female characters depicted in romance as she struggles with loss of memories and harsh physical conditions to try and save herself. Their reconnection is endearing amid fast paced action.
wild cardLora Leigh’s sensual Elite Ops series begins with Wild Card. Another exciting presumed dead plot line follows Navy Seal Nathan who has been living under a new identity for three years after a mission gone dangerously wrong. He and his wife Bella try to find their way back together while staying alive in this popular series.
because of youJessica Scott’s Coming Home titles are gaining readers and momentum. Start with Because of You,and keep going! On the last night before his last deployment, Shane had a memorable first kiss with Jen that neither can forget. Wounded and under her care now, Shane and Jen have time to explore a promising future. A realistic depiction of the emotions and struggle of wounded veterans bring these characters to readers’ hearts.

Celebrate the 4th of July with some of these titles in the pool, the beach or in other relaxing settings. What are you reading over the holiday?
