Extreme Makeover, Writer’s Office Edition

Want to make your writing space neat, attractive and functional in 2012? If you need help creating a work space that will work for YOU, apply to be featured in our February Extreme Makeover, Writer’s Office Edition with Jeanne Adams.

Jeanne is a writer, teacher and consultant with degrees in interior design and landscape design. This decorating diva will select one or more special victims…er…guests and delve into each author’s environment. She’ll help the selected guest(s) discover what they need to do their best work. Each person will take away tips, tricks and techniques for surrounding herself with the things that enhance creativity, increase productivity and help her to enjoy her writing more.

To be considered for Jeanne’s special lecture, please send a “before” picture of your writing space to Kelsey at Kelsey@RomanceUniversity.org no later than January 5, 2012.

The Gulf Coast Chapter of Romance Writers of America is pleased to
announce that the 2012 Silken Sands Self-Published Star Award is open
for entries! The Star contest is a reader’s choice award, judged by
readers of romantic fiction.

Entry deadline is January 5, 2012. All works must have an original
publication date between January 1 and December 31, 2011.

A big “Atta Girl” to Carrie Spencer! Carrie’s entry “Man Overboard” finaled in the single title category of the Valley of the Sun Romance Writers - Hot Prospects contest.

Take a bow center stage, Robin Covington! Robin took first in the contemporary category of the Heart of Denver Romance Writers – Molly contest with her entry “Southern Comfort”. Robin was named as one of the ”Unsinkable Heroines” for two perfect scores going into the final round and received a request for a full manuscript.

RU Remembers L.A. Banks (aka Leslie E. Banks)

The faculty at Romance University would like to extend their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of L.A. Banks (aka Leslie E. Banks), who passed away on August 2. We very much enjoyed having Ms. Banks as a Visiting Professor last year. The writing community has lost a legend today. We miss her already.
