However, when one side is brightly lit and the other is dark, the darker side becomes difficult to see from the brightly lit side because it is masked by the brighter reflection of the lit side.

- The scratch resistant version has a coating that protects the non-reflective side of the mirror. The side with this scratch resistant coating should hold up to some wear and tear. Be sure to face the non-reflective side in the direction that receives the most wear. The side with reflective coating can be damaged easily, so avoid wiping it with anything if you can.
