FAQ:
Q: Where can I buy a Nikon 18-70mm?
A: © 2006 KenRockwell.com Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S DX. I’d get it at Adoramaor Amazon. It helps me keep adding to this site when you use these links, thanks! Ken. June 2008 More Nikon Reviews Introduction This 18-70 was Nikon’s first midrange zoom designed for the shorter focal lengths required by digital cameras.
Q: What are the weaknesses of the Nikon 18-70mm?
A: It’s in the areas of vignetting and distortion that the 18-70 shows its greatest weakness (slight though that is), making it an excellent candidate for image correction with DxO Optics Pro. At maximum wide angle, vignetting hits a high of slightly more than one EV wide open, but drops to 1/2 EV at apertures of f/5.6 and smaller.
Q: Can a Nikon 18-35mm lens be used on a film camera?
A: It ONLY works on digital SLRs. Using it on a film camera will result in a semi-circular image with dark corners. If you need a wide angle zoom for a film camera you need the 18-35instead. It is a DX Lens. It’s an easy to use, sharp, compact and all around nice lens.
Q: Which is better Nikkor 18-55mm or Tamron 17-50mm?
A: It looks nicer than any of the Nikkor 18-55mm lenses if that matters to you. It has nice fat glass and has 67mm front threads. It still doesn’t really perform better. I have replaced this lens with a much better Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 DI lens.
