- SIZING - Ostrich eggshells vary in size, based on the age of the hen and other factors. We class them into the following categories. Large: Up to 13-14" circumference and 4.5"-5.5" long | Extra Large: 14-16" circumference and 5.5"-6.5" long | Jumbo: Over 15" circumference and over 6.5" long.
- FINISH - Every eggshell is unique, based on the hen's genetics, physiology, and diet. Natural sheen describes a smooth, almost iridescent finish, whereas matte shells are more white in color and feel a bit chalky. Scarred eggs have varying degrees of ridges in their surface, and "imperfect" shells are those that have other irregularities, such as discoloration, an off-center drillhole, epoxy patch, or pencil marking.
